Dec. 4. Took 24 traps & went down in valley west of town. set 19. for Arvicolas & 5 for Thomomys. killed a duck & 2 shorelarks. tramped over a lot of the valley. got back before sundown.
A clear pleasant day.

"[[ditto for: Dec.]] 5. Went to traps. got 4 Arvicolas, 1 Thomomys. set a few more traps, & got back in time to make up 6 skins by finishing them in evening.
A warm day. cold at night.

"[[ditto for: Dec.]] 6. Loaded my camp & went down in valley about a mile west of town & located. Pitched tent & then went to traps. Caught 6 Arvicolas & 5 Thomomys & 3 Hesperomys. reset part of traps & took up some. Got supper & wrote & read in evening. Warm, pleasant day but cold evening.
