The valley looks like an orchard.
Low & extremely rough mountains are on both sides but none with timber on or high.
We do not see the river till we cross it at Hermosillo. Here there are large canes, or bamboos, along the river & ditches.
No farms seen until near Hermosillo where they raise alfalfa, sugarcane, & some nice large orange groves.
The oranges are not ripe, but are a pale yellow & looked good. I bought one & ate part of it but it was not good. Palm trees are common about the town.
Near Carbo, I saw several queer flying Turkey Buzzards & a few all along to Hermosillo. Here there were about 100 of the in town, flying around & sitting on buildings, & I found that they were not Turkey Buzzards at all, but some other large vulture.
Saw a few Mexican Jack Rabbits along the road & some Dipodomys holes & lots of Perognathus holes. & some Thomomys hills. Birds were scarce.
