A little snow on Mt. Blanca & the Eagle Mts. The valley is grassy & small brush & yuccas in places, no water & not much stock. Prairie Dogs numerous all along. Saw one Geococcyx.

Reached there at 7:30, after dark.

Had a cold ride after a pair of little Mules, Saw Prairie Dogs & a lot of Antelope tracks.

" [[ditto for: Dec.]] 31 Got a pony & started up the mountains to find a place to stay. Followed up the Limpia Creek about 14 miles to Mr. Finleys Ranch & concluded to stay there.

It is near the pine timber & there are evergreen oaks & cedars & PiƱon pines all around.

The country is rough & rocky.
