" [[ditto for: Jan.]] 14 Couldnt get any Bear skulls at Mr. Perkins' They had killed a number but a long way from home & did not bring in the skulls of but one & the boys smashed it.

They are rough but generous & intelligent people as are most of the ranch men.

Mr. P. told me where I could find a Panther skull at a ranch 9 miles west of there, Mr. Curr's, so I started to follow his directions up one cañon & down another.

Killed a S. gram. & saw another. They were in a sheltered place in the cañon where the sun shone & it was warm; were feeding under Juniper trees. The one killed had its cheek pouch full of Juniper berries & was very fat, though not adult.

Saw no new birds or much game of any kind.

Went over a divide & down another cañon
