NEW YORK (22)

February 19th, 1969
IHB

Dear Mr. Seligman,

Many thanks for your letter of February 14th and for your cheque in the amount of $ 3,000. - - in settlement of our invoice for the Pannini drawing. I hope that the drawing has arrived safely in the meantime.

From the Victoria & Albert Museum we had a letter telling us that unfortunately the engraving has not been photographed up to now and that their photographers are so overloaded with orders that they will not be able to photograph the engraving without a considerable delay. They suggest that we should employ a photographer outside the museum to whom they will glad make the print available. They suggest Messrs. A. & C. Cooper of 10, Pollen Street, London W.1, who are used to working in the museum. They charge Sh. 30 for a negative and two prints. We are writing to this firm by same mail and will ask them to send you the negative and two prints directly to New York.

My son will write to Professor Vitzthum as soon as he is back in the business. He thinks it may still last some time before the publication appears, so there is no such hurry.

Professor Damie Stillman of the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee also intends to publish the drawing in the Art Bulletin of that museum. I have written to Professor Stillman, asking him not to mention our name but to say that the drawing comes from a private collection in Munich.

Furthermore I would like to inform you that Mr. John O'Brien, 475 Mansfield, New Haven, Connecticut 06511, has inquired here about the drawing, asking us to send him a photograph and price. Mrs. Drey of New York spoke to him about the drawing.
