New York City.

Dear Mr. Seligmann:

Your letter of February 10th received, and the writer has been awaiting an opportunity to speak to Mr. Hammond, about the tapestries.

There is in preparation, at this moment, a large ball, to be given by the Hammonds, for their daughter, at one of the local reception rooms, and I find that the familiy are very much engaged in making their arrangements. The ball occurs tomorrow night, after which I hope they will have a sufficient lull in their social progress to talk decoration.

Mr. Ritter is here at the moment, and I would hang the Hondekoter if it were here. Photographs mean nothing, and if it seems too much of an effort to send the canvas in the hope that it will satisfy him, please do not hesitate to say so. I personally think that if the price is right, he would be strongly tempted to keep it. My only success with him is to keep hanging things until he finds what he wants.

I am just as anxious as you to get the tapestries up in Mrs. Hammond's drawing room, and will advise you promptly as soon as this is possible.

With best wishes, I am

Very sincerely yours
