Jan. 15 -

Dear T.

I hoped that I would be in New York to extend my Christmas Greetings personally, but, as all things, my travel budget has gone; so please accept these belated and long distance warm wishes for a good New Year.

Unhappily the year ahead looks bleak indeed for Huntington Galleries. The recession has hit this area hard and as a result donations and contributions - particularly from industry - have dropped sharply. I have not been able to replace yet my educational curator who, you may recall, left for Burma last November, and it has been necessary to cut the budget all along the line.
