I caught some Hesperomys eremicus & H. sovoriensis & a Thomomys & an Onychormys & 3 Dipodops, Nelson got a Dipodops & Hesperomes. Took up our traps & started on the road again. Followed up the valley about 2 miles & turned to the east & climbed to top of the divide between Panamint & Coso Valleys. Aneroid makes the top of Divide 6750 feet.
600 feet above our last camp.
Yuccas go clear over the summit
Pinus monophylla does not come down as low as the saddle where we cross the range. The range is higher & rocky on each side of the pass.
The rocks are mostly granite - 
Larrhea mexicana [[strikethrough]] begins [[/strikethrough]] does not come up out of Coso Valley.
Comania mex. & the green Ephedra are abundant over the mountains
From the divide we follow down Shepherds CaƱon. The road is steep but mostly smoothe. We reach the first spring about 4 miles below the top, then on to the last spring a mile or two below - & camped.
Came a little over 7 miles but did not get in till 3 P.M.
