[[underlined]] July 1 [[/underlined]] Left Indian Wells at 6 A.M., turned up a road to Walker Pass a mile north of Coyote Holes. Followed up it about 3 miles to the second spring and camped at 9 A.M. came about 9 miles, camped in the Yucca belt above Larrea. Caught & made up some Thomomys & set a lot of traps in P.M.
[[underlined]] Aneroid [[/underlined]] read at Indian Wells at 6 A.M. 2650, and at our camp at 9 A.M. 3925. 
A clear day, rather warm.
[[underlined]] Plants: [[/underlined]] Larrea mexicana is abundant and thrifty over Indian Wells Valley and extends up the slope of Walker Pass to 3800 feet, to where Yucca brevifolia begins, Franseria dumosa is abundant and [[strikethrough]] extends [[/strikethrough]] ranges with Larrea.
[[underlined]] Mammals [[/underlined]]. Thomomys hills are common, Tamias leucurus is numerous. Dipodomys deserti holes were seen up to upper limit of Larrea - 3800 ft,
Watched for Bats in evening but saw non.

[[underlined]] July 2 [[/underlined]]: Dr. Fisher caught to Thomomes and 2 Tamias leucurus, 2 Hesperomes & a Neotoma. I caught 3 Neotomas a Hesperomys a Tamias & a Speotyto. We made up a few skins and started at 9 oclock.
[[underlined]] Aneroid [[/underlined]] read 3850 at camp at 9 A.M. and 5100 on summit at 11 and 4400 at 12 M. where we camped on little stream on west slope.
A clear, warm day. showers farther north on Mts.
