Dr. Fisher killed a Vesperugo fuscus & V. hesperus. [[underlined]] July 13 [[/underlined]] Packed up and started at half past 6. Barometer read at camp when we started 2300 (100 feet lower than before) at north bridge, 7 A.M. 2250, lowest part of valley on road 2200, top of first Divide 3500 at 10 A.M. bottom of Havilah Valley - 2800, Havilah town 2900, second summit at 12 4100, Walker Basin where we camped 3200 at 5 P.M. Shot 3 longtailed Tamias, saw a lot of them. Shot 3 Melanerpes torquatus in Walker Basin. S. beecheyi abundant all along. In evening we shot 2 Antrozous pallidus & 2 Vesperugo fruscus. Saw & shot at a Coyote. Found lots of little holes that may be Perognothus & may be beetles, no signs of Dipodops. [[underlined]] July 14 [[/underlined]], Caught 2 little Perognathes, nothing else. I had a lot of skins to make up. Dr. Fisher had but few, so he went up the mountain started at 7 & got back at 2. went up to 5200 feet. Brought down cone & leaves of Pinus ponderosa from 5000 feet on E. slope. Killed a Lepus californicus, a L. sylvaticus, S. beecheyi and a lot of birds.
