Dear Mr. Byam Shaw,

The delivery of the Master Drawings magazine, the labor of love of our dear friend Felice, is always a source of enjoyment, however, the arrival of the last one, # 1 of 1975, had a special merit to my eyes.

It contains, namely, your so very interesting review of the "Recent Acquisitions and Promised Gifts" to the National Gallery in Washington. How very good it was of you to mention my name in connection with the famous Raphael drawing, a courtesy which indeed I appreciate much, and this all the more as courtesies seem to belong to another age.

Furthermore, seeing your name reminded me of the so very pleasant hours spent in your company, both in Paris and in London, and though as you may have heard, I have retired from active business, those hours I refer to remain in my memory as among the most enjoyable ones.

With renewed appreciation, and with best personal regards,

Sincerely yours,

Germain Seligman
