Dear Mr. Byam Shaw:

How very good of you to have answered me so promptly and let me thank you for your so very kind and interesting letter of October 1st. I will answer it point by point.

[[underline]] PUGET [[/underline]] - should one or the other, or both, be released by the Metropolitan or by the British Museum, they would definitely interest me.

[[underline]] SILVESTRE [[/underline]]- The [[underline]] "View of Venice" [[/underline]], of which you were good enough to send me a small photograph, and which I realize is unfinished, I would like to acquire.

[[underline]] SILVESTRE [[/underline]] - The [[underline]] "Formal Garden in a Landscape near Paris" [[/underline]] - could I possibly have a photograph ?

[[underline]] SILVESTRE [[/underline]] - The [[underline]] "Panoramic Views of Rome and Florence" [[/underline]] we shall leave out.

Similarly, we will abandon the GUYS, the HARPIGNIES and the LAMI, though I rather like the latter's work, of whom we have a small collection at home.

[[underline]] J. F. MILLET [[/underline]] - [[underline]] "Farm Building" [[/underline]]. Should you consider it to be a very good one, may I have a photograph of it, too?

[[underline]] OZANNE [[/underline]] - we will also dismiss, as well as the WILLE, BOUCHER, PATER, HUBERT ROBERT and GAVARNI.

However, if and when released, the Gaspar POUSSIN and the DORE could come into line, and photographs would then be needed.
