Dear Colin:

I have been trying to reconstruct as far as feasible, and it is not an easy task, the inventory of the Wallace Collection from Bagatelle which as you will recall my father purchased in 1914.

As you probably know all our Paris archives were destroyed during the war, hence the problem I am faced with.

Now having heard a little while ago that your firm had purchased the two Boilly paintings from the Alfred Loewenstein collection in Brussels, which originally came from the Wallace Collection, I am wondering whether you would be good enough to let me have a black and white glossy print of each of them, billing me for same of course.

May I count upon your kindness to let me have the right to reproduce them, giving due credit to your firm for the photographs.

I hope to be in London ere long and am looking forward to seeing you again.

Meanwhile, with anticipated thanks and kind regards,

Sincerely yours,

(Germain Seligman)
