[[strikethrough]]and[[/strikethrough]] the Boston Society of Natural History, and the American Museum of Natural History in New York City, the authorities of whom have honored each application for the loan of specimens by promptly forwarding them. All specimens thus borrowed were returned at the earliest opportunity.

The entire collection of birds in the southwest gallery, duplicates as well as the study series, have been thoroughly protected from insects by putting crystallized naphtaline in every tray.

Many of the labels for the exhibition series have been received from the Government Printing Office, and devices for fastening them to the stands have been invented by Mr. Hawley and approved. Requisition[[strikethrough]]s[[/strikethrough]] has been for the required number, and, when they come to hand, the work of attaching the labels will be commenced.
