Another experiment, only partially successful on account of [[strikethrough]]the[[/strikethrough]] our inability to procure the proper sort of wire, has been made at the Secretary's request; the experiment in question being an endeavor to show to the best advantage the brilliant metallic hues of hummingbirds, by placing them within a case lined with green-black plush, each bird mounted upon a delicate wire coil, so as to easily vibrate when the case is moved and thus show the changing colors caused by different inclinations to the light.
