Colonel:

I have the honor to inform you that agreeably to your orders, dated San Francisco, June 28, 1865, the country between the mouth of the Anadyr and Nikolaevsk on Amour River has been explored, and the route of the Telegraph line located on the whole distance.

I was also enabled to begin at several points different preparatory works as construction of houses, boats, canoes, cutting telegraph poles etc.

(10) The work was entirely accomplished by the officers who left California last July under my command, namely, Capt. J. A. Mahood, Lieuts. G. Kennan and R. J. Bush.

Lieut. Macrae's party remained at their campy until Lieut. Kennan's arrival at the mouth of Anadyr river, January 29/31 1866. Lieut. Kennan took with him Messrs Robinson, Smith and Harcher and removed their supplies to Anadyrsk.
