Youkon Junco ♀ shot at the nest but too much torn to identify the species after skinning. I could, however, recognize the species by the black instead of the brown under the wings. Nine eggs supposed [[underlined]] Nettion carolinensis [[/underlined]] Nest in dry woods at considerable distance from any water. The eggs are far to small etc for [[underlined]] Dafila [[/under-lined]] or [[underlined]] Spatula [[/underined]], and Querquedula I have never seen here, though [[underlined]]Nettion [[/underlined]] is not uncommon.
