[[underlined]] Elko [[/underlined]]

[[underlined]] June 28 [[/underlined]] Started early and reached Elko at 10 A.M. - 13 miles.
Left the South Fork Valley and crossed a juniper ridge, and down into the East Humboldt Valley.
  
Found Walter Fisher at Hotel and Oberholser left us on the 7:15 P.M. train. Packed specimens and outfitted for the westward trip.

[[underlined]] June 29 [[/underlined]] Left Elko at 6 A.M. and followed down the valley near Moleen, then turned over a ridge and down to Carlin then over a longer ridge and camped at spring 11 miles from Carlin at 6400 feet. Came about 35 miles.
  
Collected 2 species of little fish, a shiner & a sucker, in creek about 4 miles N.E. from Carlin, a branch of Humboldt R. Shot a badger near Elko & a S. oregonus. Saw plenty of mollis & Lepus idahoensis.

The valley is becoming very dry and dusty. It is straight upper Sonoran in valley and mainly so to top of ridge 1200 feet higher.
