4. In the schools, this book will be kept up to date by the pilot. In the field, it will be kept up to date by the pilot himself, and verified by the Squadron Commander.

5. The envelope inclosed in this book is made to hold the individual record card. This card will be put in the envelope by the last American School and sealed in. A seal should be placed at each end of each string attached to the flap. Upon arrival, the pilot will remit the book with the envelope and seals intact to his Commanding Officer, who will transmit them in the same manner to the field commander, when the pilot goes into the field. This also applied to all of the pilot's changes of squadron. The pilot will not be acquainted with the context of this card.
