[[underlined]] May 18 [[/underlined]] Found a broken spring in wagon so sent it back to town & worked another day.

[[underlined]] May 19 [[/underlined]] - Packed up & continued about 6 miles south to Marivallas Gap, where the stream comes to the surface of a rocky pass.

Camped among mesquites

Set traps & hunted. A hot day above 100˚F.

[[underlined]] May 20 [[/underlined]] Started early & followed down the wide valley on east side, crossing the river 18 miles below at a little ranch, there turned west over a low gap in the Santiago range & down out a big flat valley.
