Followed down the gulch; then over a ridge to the west & into another gulch with splendid tanks of good cool rain water in the rock basins, then down into Tornillo Creek valley & to Ernests store, (about 10 miles) Then 6 miles down the wash to the Rio Grande at the mouth of Tornillo Creek & camped - 4 or 5 miles above Boquillas & 3 miles below San Vicintes.
Aneroid at camp in morning read 3600, at Ernests store 2900, at River 2650.

[[underlined]] May 23 [[/underlined]]  Aneroid reads 2400 at camp.
Set traps & explored the valley.
A hot day.  Temperature reaches about 100° [[degree symbol]] in the hot part of each day.

[[underlined]] May 24 [[/underlined]] - Caught a few things, made up skins, shot bats in evening.

[[underlined]] May 25 [[/underlined]]  Rode down to Boquillas for the mail - about 5 miles by trail, over rough country.  Lots of grass over hills.
