Lower Sonoran zone all day with abundance of Larrea, Koeberlinia, Ziziphys, Fouqueria Yucca macrocarpa, & elata, Agava petteracantha [[?]] & many species of southern cactus, but the N.E. slopes of the ridges are mainly upper Sonoran, characterized by Juniperus, Dasylerian, & an absence of Lower Sonoran species. The junipers are all low & scrubby & no trees were seen on the trip except fuglaus rupestris, Celtis, & Chilopsis along the wash.
There were no ranches & only one place of permanant water - at Mosbies spring - although pools of rain water stand in the rock pools & deep basins washed in creek bed at intervals all along. A big flood had washed down the canyon not long ago & filled the pools & left debris on the banks 10 feet above bottom of wash & in narrow places 20 feet above.
The pool where we camped at night had been and old indian camp ground. Scattered flint chips all around & a big old pit for roasting agavas - probably [[underline]] hetteracantha [[/underline]] & Dasylerion
