[[underlined]] Rock Springs [//underlined]]

[[underlined]] July 15 [[/underlined]] - Returned to Rock Springs where we remained most of the P.M. to get some repairs on the wagon & get supplies, then moved out about 2 miles on the Juno road & camped. While in town I photographed part of the horns in the Buckhorn Saloon where they have about 350 sets on the wall, all of white tail & apparently all [[underlined]] texianus [[/underlined]]. Many of them large and heavy but not ^ [[insertion]] usually [[/insertion]] very long. There are also many small sets that suggest [[underlined]] couesi [[/underlined]] but they are all slender & seem to come from young or dwarfed deer. [[strikethrough]] I [[/strikethrough]]

I then went over to Dr. Robinsons place where he has 6 tame deer, a 3 year old buck & a 2 year old doe & 4 yearlings, & photographed them. The buck is small with rather small horns half grow & in the velvet. All are in the red coat & all have very long tails, black on top. They are poor & not doing well because they do not get proper food.

We then went to a store & saw a pair of mounted Messina quail & Mr. Getting tells us they are fairly common here.

Set barometer at 2500 feet at Rock Springs. Camped only 25 feet lower.
