[[underlined]]Annual Audit of Smithsonian Nonappropriated Funds[[/underlined]]

Pursuant to Mr. Haskins' suggestion, the Regents agreed that the Institution should periodically change its outside auditing firm. The following motion was approved:

VOTED that the Board of Regents requests the Secretary to present a list of Certified Public Accountant firms for consideration by the Executive Committee, and authorizes the Executive Committee to select the audit firm to conduct the annual audit of the Institution's nonappropriated funds for fiscal year 1979 and for the next four years.

[[underlined]]Regent Emeritus[[/underlined]]

It was proposed to confer this title on a former Regent who had provided long and faithful service to the Institution and who would continue to assist and serve as an advisor to the Regents; the Regents approved the following motion:

VOTED that the Board of Regents confers the title of Regent Emeritus upon George H. Mahon for his long and faithful service to the Institution.

[[underlined]]Tourist Season Evening Hours for Mall Museums[[/underlined]]

The Regents suggested the Institution consider starting the evening hours on April 1 as in recent years, rather than on June 1, as had been planned in the current budget. Subsequent review has determined this is possible, so the following buildings will be open from 10:00a.m. to 9:00 p.m., April 1 through Labor Day:

Smithsonian Institution Building
Arts and Industries Building
History and Technology Building
Natural History Building
National Air and Space Building
Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden
