Dear Mr. Combe:

Your guess was indeed correct and I did receive a few days ago from Mr. Georges Salles an official invitation not only for "Le Songe de St. Joseph" but also "Saint Louis sous la figure de Louis XIII", as it is this title which I have indicated on the lender's form.

I understand that Mr. Dorival is working on the catalogue with Charles Sterling, and assume and hope that these paintings will be properly catalogued.

However, if you had a chance to watch this and particularly as regards the "Saint Louis" it would be of considerable importance to you both. Without my emphasizing this you know that a bad catalogue would hurt more than no catalogue at all.

Another point also of considerable importance is to have it reproduced if possible in the catalogue and also in some of the newspapers and magazines.

It might be necessary, in order to achieve this to give some financial encouragement or assistance to some of the art critics and please do not hesitate to do this, as I can assure you that it will be money well invested.

It goes without saying that as soon as you will have posted me on such outlays I will immediately forward to you my check.

There is no other person I can write in this connection and am thus depending entirely upon your good will and courtesy in the matter.

With kind thoughts,

Sincerely yours,

(Germain Seligman)
