Dear Mrs. Gomes:

I am writing you today asking you for a favor.

There will be held on November 3, and 4, at the Hotel des Ventes an auction of books "Ouvrages sur les Beaux-Arts, I. Collection de MM S....., II. Bibliotheque de M. X.....", conducted by Maitre Maurice Rheims, and Mme. J. Vidal Megret, 154 Boulevard Malesherbes, as experts.

I have but one catalogue and therefore cannot send it on to you.

I would like you to go there and bid for me on a certain number of books.

However, you will notice when you see it that there are only 101 lots which are catalogued in detail, and the 200 other lots are summed up in such a way that I do not know what they contain.

But, if I do not know how the books I am anxious to have are divided up between these 200 lots, [[underline]] I do know [[/underline]] on the other hand that the books which you will find on the enclosed sheets are included in those lots.

Thus you will find herein five different lists.

#1 refers to the listing from 1 to 101, and when you have the catalogue you will be able to check up on them easily.

#2 refers to"Catalogues des Ventes" which I assume must be included in the lots from 102 to 160, but in which ones these books are I do not know.

#3 refers to Catalogues of exhibitions, which I assume are included in the lots of 161 to 180 "Catalogues d'Expositions".

#4 contains "Catalogues des Musees" which should be among the lots of 181 to 195.

#5 refers to two books "Livres d'Art" probably in the group of 261 to 300?

I realize this might take you some time to carry out.

[[underline]] Please do not mention my name in this connection to anyone, [[/underline]] and
