FRANS WERNER VON TAMM A German artist born in Hamburg in 1658. He studied first in Rome and then in Vienna, where he specialised in executing paintings of still life and flowers. He died in Vienna in 1724. Paintings by him are in the Museums in Milan, Dresden and Vienna. A Vase of Flowers and a Guinea Pig On a stone ledge rests a glass vase containing a variety of colourful flowers. Nearby lie plums and peaches. On the right, beside a piece of fallen masonry, sits a guinea pig gazing at the flowers. CANVAS 18 3/4 by 16 1/4 inches (47.8 by 41.2 cms.). Signed on the ledge Fran. W. Tam. fe. A° 1715.
