Dear Mr. Levy :

Thank you very much for your kind letter about the Courbet painting. I know the drawing reproduced in Leger's book (it is in Bésançon), but I had not heard of the oil sketch of the priest and the boys. I would be very grateful to you for any further information about it.

I wish I could attend the meeting to which you have invited me, but it comes at an unfortunate time, I teach at Columbia until late on Wednesday afternoon (5 PM) and then I have a lecture the same evening at 8.20. I barely manage to get downtown, have supper, arrange my slides and notes and reach the evening lecture in time.
