This indenture made and entered into this 5^th day of November 1853. By and between H.G. Cutler of the County of Carteret of the first part and Tho^s R Underwood, Alfred A McKirtlan W^m H Washington, Geo. S Stevenson, John D Williams and Nathan A Stedman of the second part.

Whereas the parties of the Second part and divers others their associates have purchased of the said H.G. Cutler, a tract of land situated in the County of Carteret and bounded and described as follows: beginning at a stake on the North side of Bogue Sound running thence westwardly up the various courses of the sound, five hundred and ten poles straight— Thence N.13.^0 E.203 poles, thence East 209 poles, then south 4 poles, thence North 85.^0 E. 116 poles, thence W. 20^0  W. 96 poles, thence [[strikethrough]] 45.^0  E. 21½ poles, thence E. 29½ poles, thence S. 85.^0  E. 220 poles, thence South 5^0 W. to Shepperd Creek thence Westerly up said Creek to the South West Corner of a tract of land conveyed by said Cutler to John Saberton— Then S 5^0 West along Sabertons West line to the beginning, containing by Estimation Nine hundred and four acres (904) a survey of said land ^[[inserted]] and plate [[/inserted]] made by William H Marshall being hereunto attached and Marked. A. being all the land owned by said
