Colonel,
I have herewith the honor to request that authority may be given for burning one Wall Tent Fly, Pole & Pins, - Six Bedsteads, Fifteen Blankets, Six Bedsacks, Twelve sheets, Six Pillows, & One broom. This property having all been used with small-pox patients. Its destruction is therefore necessary to prevent the disease spreading - I would state, that application was this day made to Brvt Capt James Chester, Actg Maj Genl for such authority, but he stated, that his functions did not extend over property pertaining to the Bureau. I would also respectfully state that the Wall Tent Fly, Pole & Pins, pertain to the Bureau, and for which I am responsible, the other Articles specified, pertain to the Freedmen's Hospital, of which, R B Mattock AA Surg is in charge.
