Respectfully returned to Bvt Lt Col Jacob F Chur.
A.A A.G. N.C. In Nov 1865 I paid an account copy enclosed for towing a raft of timber to the mill at Roanoke Island. The account was certified by Capt James my predecessor as Fin. Agt & Supt. E. Dist. It was not possible that I should have known anything about the account of Mr. Hubbard except from its presentation to me for payment. and up to the End of May 1866 when I was relieved from duty as Fin. Agt. I never heard of it.

The last I heard of Maj. Goslin his address was New Berne. Possibly he could give some information about the matter.

This account was presented in June 1866, it came to Col Stubbs who was at that time deciding officer. I believe he turned over all Bureau papers in a lump to Col Johnston.
