I have the honor to request that Transportation be furnished to Mime Whitefield and her child aged 7 years — Dependent Freedpeople — from this City to Goldsboro N. C. This woman came from Memphis Miss and her money gave out when she arrived here. She is now in Hospital.

I believe she comes within the meaning of Circular N^o 2 of April 10^th, and that she will be able to provide for herself if she can reach her home.

I Am Colonel
Very Respectfully
Your Obed^t Servant

Transcription Notes:
Is "Mime" correct? -- Beth I think so. The "e" looks consistent with the other "e's" in the letter. I considered that it could be "Mimi," but as it looked like "e" and there was no dot, I settled for "Mime."
