of this County, appeared in the "Journal" a few days since, which reflected severely on the indifference manifested by the Sheriff and other County Officials, in regard to the outrages committed by the Regulators; this article, instead of causing those officers to exhibit some activity in the matter, only gave rise to a newspaper controversy, in which the apparent object was to abuse the author of the article, and to show that the sheriff and other County officials had no power to do anything to put a stop to these crimes. 

From the immunity enjoyed by these Regulators; their organization and number has greatly increased, so that in some sections citizens fear to speak of the matter to their neighbors or friends, not knowing but that they may belong to them.
