Referring to the letter of Bvt. Major Genl. R. Avery of the 4th instant. and forwarded to these Headquarters with your endorsement on the 6th inst, in which a report of an investigation of the circumstances attending the murder of Archibald Beebee, alias Warden is made, with certain recommendations concerning the action of the Civil authorities at Fayetteville N.C.- I have the honor to inform you that the Major General Commanding has this day directed the Commanding Officer.
