Know all men by these presents. That on
this twenty ninth day of April, one thousand 
eight hundred and sixty-seven, personally ap-
peared Adam D. Etheridge, Esquire, to me
known as an acting Justice of the Peace in
and for the County of Currituck, in the State
of North Carolina, who being duly sworn, did
depose and say, that he knows the land for which
John Wescott, of Currituck County, North Carolina,
now makes application asking that it may
be restored to him, said land being situate
on Roanoke Island, and bounded as follows,
that is to say, on the North by the lands of
Samuel Baum; on the North East by the lands
of Little John Etheridge and George W. Wescott;
and on the South West, by Croatoan Sound, to
have been heired by said John Wescott and his
sister, Sarah Wescott from their mother Barbara
Wescott; that they are the only heirs, and that
their title thereto was never disputed

At the same time, also appeared Isaac C.
Meekins, Esquire, also an acting Justice of the
Peace in and for said County, State aforesaid,
to me known as such, who being duly sworn
did depose and say that he has read the fore-
going statement, and knows the contents thereof,
and that the same is true, of his own knowledge.
