Washington, D. C. Sir: In reply to your communication of the 28^th ultimo, requesting to be furnished with a copy of the order concerning a Military Commission at Salisbury in 1865, before which [[underline]] Shack [[/underline]], freedman, was tried, you are respectfully informed that it appears the Commission in question was convinced by Special Orders N^o 50, October 28^th 1865, from Headquarters District of West North Carolina, the records from which Headquarters are not on file in this Office.
