Aug. 12[[/underline]]Wrote reports & packed specimens. 

Aug. 13 [[/underline]] Staged down to Hemit and got upper limits of the species noted in coming up the mountains. Corrected [[zone?]] map & reports accordingly. 

Aug. 14 [[/underline]] Got a team and drove to Lakeview, and north around the end of San Jacinto Lake and back along the east side of the lake and marshes. Found many species of water birds and [[waders?]] and got good zone lists of plants. The desert species are conspicuous north east of the lake where they come down from San Jacinto Pass. A few [[?]] of both species well seen, also Chilopsis, Atriplex, Baccaris. [[paragraph end]]
[[paragraph begin]] Cactus [[wrens?]] were [[common?]] and nests seen. [[paragraph end]] [[paragraph begin]] [[Dipodomys?]], [[Perodipus?]] & [[perognathus?]] tracks were numerous.

To Riverside [[/Underline]]
Aug 15. [[/Underline]] Took over P.M. train to Riverside and stopped at Glenwood Hotel. Visited Dr. Attwood in evening and learned much of the country and fauna. 

Aug. 16. [[/Underline]] Mrs. Attwood took us out to the Wilder ranch 7 miles west of town but the Wilders had gone to the [[mts?]]. Got good notes & mapped some country. Took 1:30 train for Redlands and arrived at 4 P.M. Had to wait at SAn Bernadino for train.

Aug. 17 [[/underline]] Took stage for Bluff Lake Camp in San Bernadino Mts. & followed up Santa Ana River Valley about 10 miles [[Note above: 2700 feet ?]]Then packed our load on horses and burrows for about 5 miles up the canyon to [[fork?]] of Bear Creek, then took another old stage [[Note above: 3500 feet]] & came on [[to?]] Charles Ranch at 4500 feet, then over ridge at 7700 feet, and down to capmm at 7500 feet. The camp is 3 or 4 miles south of Bear Lake. Made lists of plants & birds & mapped zones as I went.
