[[underline]] Nov. 18 [[/underline]]  Left Grants Pass at 11:30 The same mixture of Upper Sonoran & Transition zone species continued beyond Hugo, but gave place on the tunnel & ridge to mostly douglas spruce and on the north side of the ridge some [[underline]] Abies loweana [[/underline]]. At Leland Cornus nuttallii and Ceanothus cordulatus were first seen.

A few patches of Ceanothus cuneatus ^[[& thyrsiflorus]] and Arctostophylus [[space]] grow on hot slopes and a few Pinus ponderosa & Sugar pines & Quercus kellogia?, but most of the timber is douglas spruce, with some Abies loweana [[strikethrough]] ?. Pinera [[/strikethrough]], Acer macrophylla & Alder.

After passing through tunnel No. 8 the timber is mostly Pseudotsuga and Abies loweana until we come out into the more open valley, where a few Pinus ponderosa & sugar pines & Libocedrus are seen.
