[[underlined]] July 29 [[/underlined]] Left Albuquerque at 7 A.M. for Balen and Mountainair on the Santa Fe Cut off. About 10 miles below Albuquerque and 2 miles before reaching Isleta [[insertion]] 2 mi in, [[/insertion]] on east side of river 5 small bunches of dwarf [[red checkmark]]
 [[underlined]] Prosopis glandulose [[/underlined]] were seen on dry edge of mesa, Just below Balen on east side of river valley 2 more small bunches were seen and in the foothills of Manzano Mts. considerable dwarf [[red checkmark]] [[red underlined]] mesquite [[/red underlined]] [[insertion]] Prosopis glandulosa [[/insertion]] was seen on hot slopes in gulches. Just above and just below Balen a few scattered bushes of [[red checkmark]] [[underlined]] Prosopis [[strikethrough]] ple [[/strikethrough]] pubescens [[/underlined]] were seen on wet bottom land, but only a few in these two spots. No other change in the valley flora was noted except a long strip of half tree yuccas 3 to 6 feet high that suggest [[red checkmark]] [[underlined]] radiosa [[/underlined]] ? near Becker Station, about the middle of the mesa east of the river. The strip is narrow, half a mile or so wide, but extends out of sight north & south. As yet there is nothing on which to map Lower Sonoran.
