stomach turn at the sight of the beer. But all in all I was lucky to snap out of it so well and just in the nick of time. And I concealed it all from Mother, an accomplishment.

The party was quite a success. We started off with the movies and the party pictures brought down the house, especially Walt Harris as Chamberlain and Barbara Reed's hula hipping. The latter got her down as she didn't know I was taking any movies of her. Lee James brought along some of his films of the gang and we saw them through. Also our Shanty Shane movie which made a great hit, especially Jean in her bathing suit. Bill Collins wanted to know if she'd be there next year. Bill drank 5 bottles of beer - believe he could have drunk a dozen as easily. The movies and the new Filmo 8 projector came in for much praise and they were good. Everyone remarked about both the films and the projector, which warmed my heart. The new screen came yesterday in the nick of time and that was a great asset too. The movies were followed by bridge and ping pong and darts, Walt Scarborough bring- the latter. Walt S., Charlie Reed and I held down the basement most of the time and under the influence of the beer Walt and Charlie got hilarious. The climax came when I heaved a dart and missing the target completely, it brought to rest in a box of Chips over the laundry tubs. After that, Walt and Charlie got glee out of aiming occasionally at the "O" in the Ivory Soap Flakes box, so when Willie arrived the box was punctured in numerous places. A good feed featuring SPAM, an up and coming product of Hormel, topped off a very successful evening in spite of all my fears during my extreme indisposition during the day.
