I got from Jack Tobin. Charlie MacDonald was here today to shoot some trolley coach trouble on the Boston Elevated. My time was consumed fidgetting at the office all morning waiting for Roy to show up, reading the "History of Radio up to 1926" (very interesting and a lifesaver to me), having "coffee" with Stanley Thomas and "Conny" Donovan at 10:30AM. Thomas told one rare one on himself – how one year he carefully prepared a small plot of ground for a flower garden in his yard – spent about $10.00 on fertilizer, and then received some flower seeds as a birthday present from "Connie" & Roy, which he gratefully accepted and used. When they came up, they were onions, carrots, peas, beans, etc!

I have been thinking considerably the last couple of days and I've decided the best X-mas present I can give the family is a vastly improved game of life on my part. It will cost no money but it will cost me great effort and will likewise bring them great happiness even though they won't realize why or that it is a present from me. Now is the time to turn over the new leaf and achieve all I've dreamed of achieving. I can and will. I must. I've learned a lot about life in these last 10 years and if I put all that to work, profit by it, I can realize a way of living such as I have long wished.
