Yesterday Willie was very glum because [[underline]] sure [[/underline]] she was pregnant. She had started to menstruate several days ago only to stop. Yesterday afternoon she started again and stopped. Today she was [[underline]] positive [[/underline]] of it. I don't blame her for being depressed by it since we all realize it would be a serious affair again. However, this afternoon she started again, just in time to prevent my insisting she go to Dr. McCallum, although I felt equally sure she was not. So she went out tonight with a load off her mind in that respect. Apparently the trouble was a cold she has had coupled with her worrying about Bab, who is much better now.

Went to the Downie's at 9:30P.M. for open house and had an egg nog, very well produced by the inimitable John. John's mother and sister Merne, were there, and to my surprise, were tall but heavy legged - not at all spindly like John. We had to eat, drink and run leaving about 10PM for the Collins where we were invited for cocktails prior to the Kahkwa party at 11PM opening. We left home with Bab still awake and us with some misgivings about leaving her with Mother if she should have a bad coughing spell. But she went to sleep after we left and didn't awaken until we got home at 3:35AM, as we learned when we got home after Willie has worried about her all evening.
