The Art Advisory Committee, as authorized in the plan of organization adopted by the Regents, examined the various paintings and objects coming to the Gallery as permanent accessions.  The Committee accepted the following:

Painting, "Signing of the Treaty of Ghent", presented by the Sulgrave Institution.  (For the Portrait Gallery).

A cameo-cutter's outfit, consisting of wheel, dies, tools, etc., which formerly belonged to and was used by Louis Bonet, an engraver on fine stone.  Presented by Paul W. Bartlett.

Chairman of the Commission.

W. H. Holmes,
Secretary of the Commission.

On motion the report was accepted.

Senator Lodge offered the following resolution which was adopted:

RESOLVED: That the Board of Regents of the Smithsonian Institution hereby elects Messrs. Herbert Adams, Gari Melchers, and Charles Moore as members of the National Gallery of Art Commission for the full term of four years, their present one-year terms having expired December 14, 1922.

NEW BUSINESS.

[[underlined]] Plan to Increase Funds of Institution [[/underlined]]

The Secretary brought before the Board a draft of a plan for the increase of the funds of the Institution and of a suggestion for giving recognition to contributors to its funds and collections.

After full discussion, the Chief Justice submitted the following resolution, which was adopted:

RESOLVED: That a committee, to consist of Senator Lodge, Representatives Greene, Johnson and Moore, Mr. Henderson, and the Secretary, be appointed to consider the matter of approaching the American public in connection with the increase of funds and collections; said committee to report at the meeting of the Board of Regents fixed for February 8, 1923.

The matter of increasing the membership of the Board of Regents was discussed, and on motion was laid upon the table.
