[[preprinted]] SMITHSONIAN INSTITUTION 669 [[/preprinted]] [[preprinted left margin]] MADE BY BAKER-VAWTER CO. [[/preprinted left margin]] Secretaryship of the Institution made to Dr. Jacob R. Schramm, the following resolution was adopted: RESOLVED; That the resolution of the Board, adopted June 3, 1924, authorizing the Secretary of the Institution to offer the position of Assistant Secretary to Dr. Jacob R. Schramm, be amended so as to provide that the Secretary be authorized, with the advice of the Executive Committee, to appoint an Assistant Secretary when an available suitable person is found. After thorough consideration, and upon the approval of the Executive Committee, the Secretary had appointed Dr. Alexander Wetmore, who entered upon his duties on April 1, 1925, after having served since November 19, 1924, as Superintendent of the National Zoological Park. Doctor Wetmore is one of the younger men of science who has already established a reputation as a successful ^research worker along biological lines. He is thirty-nine years of age, and has had fourteen years of experience in the Biological Survey of the Department of Agriculture; he has travelled extensively on zoological explorations, his work carrying him to Alaska, Porto Rico, the Virgin Islands, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay and Chile; also to the Leeward Islands of Hawaii and Wake Island when he headed the Tanager Expedition of 1923. Doctor Wetmore has published over one hundred ornithological papers; he is a member of many biological and ornithological societies, and has received the following degrees: A.B. - 1912 - Kansas State University; M.S.- George Washington University 1916, and Ph.D. from the same University in 1920. He has taken up the duties of his position with enthusiasm, and I feel that we are to be congratulated that he has been added to the scientific staff of the Institution. APPOINTMENT OF SUPERINTENDENT OF NATIONAL ZOOLOGICAL PARK. The appointment of Doctor Wetmore as Assistant Secretary of the Institution left a vacancy in the position of Superintendent of the Park.
