RESOLVED; That the Commission recommend to the Board of Regents the re-election of the following members for the succeeding term of four years:- James E. Fraser, Joseph H. Gest, Frank J. Mather, Jr., and Edmund C. Tarbell.

The Secretary stated that the next order of business was the election of Officers and Committees, and on motion, he was directed to cast a ballot for the re-election of the present officers and committees, which was done. The Chairman then declared them duly elected for the ensuing year.

Following adjournment at noon, the Advisory Committee visited the rooms of the National Gallery in the National Museum building to consider acceptance of offerings of art works for the year. The following were accepted: (1) seven water color drawings of Greek Temples, by Henry Bacon, designed to serve as a nucleus for a prospective architectural department in the Gallery; (2) a three-quarters length portrait of Admiral Samuel Francis duPont, by Daniel Huntington, for the prospective National Portrait Gallery; and (3) Portrait busts of General Winfield Scott and William Cullen Bryant, by Henry Kirke Brown, for the National Portrait Gallery.

On motion the report was received, and the following resolution was adopted:

RESOLVED; That the Board of Regents hereby approves the recommendation of the National Gallery of Art Commission that James E. Fraser, Joseph H. Gest, Frank J. Mather, Jr., and Edmund C. Tarbell, be re-elected as members of the Commission for the ensuing term of four years, their present terms having expired.

SPECIAL REPORT OF THE ACTING SECRETARY.

Dr. Abbot spoke as follows:-

[[/underlined]] After the Conference of February 11, 1927, it was the advice of Mr. Morrow and others that no active solicitation of funds for the Smithsonian should be made until a large conditional or outright gift had been secured.
