March 23rd, 1934.

Messrs. W. R. Keating & Company,
90 Broad Street,
New York City.

Dear Sir:

We acknowledge receipt of your letter of March 21st, in reference to a shipment of pictures addressed to Mr. R. Woog, Paris, which was handed over to you by our packers, W. J. Brown, Inc., on condition that all expenses be collected by you from the addressee.

In consideration of the above and the fact that we had acted only at the request of Mr. Woog and had ourselves no interest in the pictures, we would say that we have no further responsibility in the matter.

We would, however, add for your information, from a letter dated March 6th just received from our Paris firm, who has been trying to help your agents, Atlantic Transports, to clear this matter up as far as possible, we quote part translating: "We are surprised that the firm Keating had sent you formal request for payment of the expenses caused by the return to Paris of the Woog paintings. In fact, Atlantic Transports, who have possession of the paintings, just now gave to their attorney the order to proceed with the recovery of the expenses from Mr. Woog".

Very truly yours,

JACQUES SELIGMANN & COMPANY, Inc.
