To Agent of Freedmans Bureau of Cumberland:-

James Allen (of color) lived in Moore County:  was [[underlined]] always free [[/underlined]] - 61 years of age & a crippled:-  He lived with a colored woman,  [[underlined]] a slave: [[/underlined]] & had ten children.  Soon after the surrender James & Charlotte [[underlined]] married. [[/underlined]]  Before the marriage, they had two boys - one named Ananias, now about 18 years of age - the other named, Judson, aged about 16 years - at this time.   The mother & children belonged to [[underlined]] Archibald Currie [[/underlined]] before the war - & before the surrender, Currie, sold the mother to Wm Aurison of Montgomery, but retained Judson & Ananias up to the [[underlined]]surrender[[/underlined]]. After the pardons of  [[underlined]]Judson & Ananias[[/underlined]], they came to their mother's & [[underlined]] remained [[/underlined]]. Then Currie came & took them away from the mother.  They run away from Currie - and returned to their [[underlined]] mother [[/underlined]] & remained with mother for about 4 months;  working for their mother [[now?]].  They then went down on a visit to [[underlined]]Curries[[/underlined]] & he persuaded them to leave their parents - They came back home & then run away & went to Currie's - and they are now  [[underlined]]there[[/underlined]] working for him - under age as [[underlined]] above. [[/underlined]]
