The undersigned, Joseph T. Sanderlin, Coroner of the County of Camden N.C., makes the following statement, with respect to the murder of a co^ld man, named Albert Rogerson which took place on the night of the 15th of April 1868.

Said Rogerson was a quiet, peaceable man, who earned his living by farming, on other people's land for the crop season, he lived not far from South Mills, in Camden Co N.C. in a house rented from Henry Whitehurst, a farmer in that neighborhood by whom said Rogers was employed.

The undersigned first heard of said murder, about two oclock P.M. on the 16th inst, & immediately, under direction of John R Abbot, a magistrate of said County, summoned a jury of twelve citizens of said County, who attended on Friday the 17 April Inst and investigated the case. The undersigned attended said Court of Inquiry, & found that said Rogerson had been called to his own door by some person, or persons unknown, about 9 o-clock at night on the 15th Inst, & inquiry being made, as to who lived there, the deceased answered "Rogerson" and opened the door.
