Sir

I am in receipt of your impudent letter dated March 9th 1868 and must say that if you had written it yourself, in my opinion, it would have sounded more decent.

Now Sir without going into large details about the matter, I have to tell you that you must be a dishonest man, or a very ignorant one. When you and all parties connected in the case, were present, you and all of you gave me a correct account of every-thing, which I put on paper, and acted on my order accordingly. (I have no time to re-examine the case ten times.) Beside that I have all accounts furnished by you, the contract in my possession.

Do you know that you perjured yourself? When I examined you, you had nothing to say further in the case, but now sir while you see that those poor freed-men, are entitled to the
