I have the honor to request that I am furnished with two hundred (200) bushels of Corn, and two thousand (2000) lbs bacon, for gratuitous issue to the destitute and Suffering persons of Wilson Nash and Edgecomb Counties.-  There are quite a number yet in this district, who are actually Suffering to a very painful [[degree?]], for the necessaries of life, whom the Wardens of the Poor cannot reach, on account of the numbers, the scarcity of provisions, and the lack of money to make purchases of the same.

These persons will need some assistance until the officers under the new State Government shall have been inaugurated into their duties, and make proper provisions for them.
